Bill Adcock, age 78 of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt Fuessel officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the funeral home.
Billy Lawrence Adcock was born on June 8, 1945 to the late Tilmon and Lucille Williams Adcock in Hamilton, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Evant, graduating in 1963. He married Frances McDonald Bird in August 1973, and the two made their home in Gatesville for most of their married life. Together they raised six wonderful children. Bill retired from Sprint Telephone Company in 2003 after almost 40 years of service. He enjoyed working on cars and being with family. He especially enjoyed whatever his grandchildren were participating in. Bill was a member of Mountain Baptist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Adcock; sister-in-law, Wanda Adcock; and brothers-in-law, Bill Ross and Roger Medart.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances; daughters, Stacey Lowery and husband, Chip, Tracey Karasek and husband, Rodney, and Jennifer Higginbotham; sons, Steve Adcock and wife, Candi, Mike Bird, and Mark Bird; sister, Martha Ross; sister-in-law, Deanna Medart; brother-in-law, Mackie McDonald; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Baptist Church, 6319 E. Hwy 84, Gatesville, Texas 76528, or to Evant ISD Heritage Foundation, 4970 County Road 2965, Evant, Texas 76525.
