Bill, a devout Catholic who cherished the Lord and the Blessed Mother, Mary, is remembered as the beloved husband of the late Deedie and a loving father to Scott (Roberta) Clauss, Susan (Kim) Richardson, and Julie (Curtis) Brooks. He was a dearly loved grandfather to Lindsey (Matt), Kelly (Evan), Will, Jennifer, Jaclyn (Glenn), Bennett, and Grace, and a treasured great-grandfather to Hannah, Gillian, Liam, Jack, Forrest, Gus, William, Avery, Adia, Virginia, and Rose.
Enlisting in the US Navy at 18, Bill proudly served his country. He began his dental education in Detroit at the University of Detroit. The navy then offered Bill an opportunity to further his education through a dental program at Central Michigan. After completing his dental degree and his Naval service, Bill also practiced as a dentist for several years as a civilian. Seeking to advance his career, Bill completed the University of Michigan's orthodontics program. He co-founded an orthodontist office in Lincoln Park, Michigan, where he practiced for over 40 years. An avid golfer and tennis player, Bill also enjoyed daily bicycle rides. Bill loved watching University of Michigan football games and was a proud alumnus.
A funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm Thursday, January 4 (Gathering at church from 11:30am) at Sacred Heart Church, 21599 Parke Lane, Grosse Ile.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a favorite charity or the Grosse Ile Land Conservancy.
