Bill Howard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point on Mar. 10, 2026.
Bill R. Howard, of Stevens Point, passed away March 5, 2026, at Whispering Pines in Plover, at the age of 90.

Bill was born November 5, 1935, in McGrew, Nebraska; son of the late William and Lottie Mae Howard. Bill grew up on the family farm and, being the youngest of 8 children, had many fond memories of his childhood. He attended local schools and graduated from McGrew High School in 1954.

Following high school, Bill attended one year of college and then served 2 years with the United States Army. On December 20, 1958, he married Donna Weber in San Francisco, California. The two welcomed three children; Paul, Kelvin, and Jackie. To provide for his family, Bill worked for PG&E for 12 years before the family moved to Nebraska in 1970. There, he worked for Nebraska Public Power District for 25 years in Chadron, NE. While there, he was also active in many community organizations. In 2002, Bill retired to Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Bill enjoyed the outdoors from hunting and fishing to camping with friends and family. He also loved to travel, taking in all that life had to offer. Above all else, Bill was a faithful and devoted husband, a loving father, adoring grandfather, and a caring friend who will be deeply missed.

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Jackie (Joe) Sroda; his daughter-in-law, Pam Howard; his grandchildren, Chris (Jamee) Howard, Mike (Janna) Howard, Gabby (Elijah) Allord, and Katie Sroda; and his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Aurora, Natalya, and Paul Howard, and Baby Allord, due in May.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lottie Mae; all 7 of his siblings; and his two sons, Kelvin and Paul Howard.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Whispering Pines Memory Care, especially Lori, Sarah, and Brenda, and St. Croix Hospice, especially Elise, Chaplain Tom, and Nel, for the exceptional care provided to Bill.

There will be no formal services held at this time. Online condolences may be left below.
