Bill McDowell Sr.

Bill McDowell, Sr., age 78, of Dekoven, KY passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 at his home. He was born February 24, 1947 to the late Guy McDowell, Jr. and Virginia McDowell in Union County. He was a member of the Dekoven Methodist Church and a UMWA member. Bill was a coal miner, welder, carpenter, and a bus driver. He also worked for Earle C. Clements Job Corps and Byers Construction Company. Bill was a US Army Veteran who enjoyed hunting. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bill graduated from Nashville Diesel School.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert McDowell

Daughter: Paula Morris
Grandchildren: Joey, Kendra, Laura Beth, and Jacey

The service will be 10AM Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Dr. Noble Cobb will officiate. The burial will be in Caseyville Cemetery with full military rites. The visitation will be 5-7PM Tuesday and 9AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Caseyville Cemetery.
