Bill Miller, 74, of Delano, TN, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born on March 13, 1950, in Delano, to Lois Tullock Miller and the late Clyde Miller. Throughout life, Bill enjoyed working in Radio Broadcasting starting at an early age at WCPH in Etowah, as Suitcase Simpson at WFLI in Chattanooga, WOKI and WIVK in Knoxville, and many other stations across the country but one of his favorites was announcing the Polk County Wildcats football and basketball games.
Bill also had a gift for writing and was featured in the “Breakfast with Bill” column in the Polk County News.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Miller; sisters, Jamie Sue Miller, and Jennifer Elaine Wood.
He is survived by his mother, Lois Miller; sisters, Janice (Charles) Brewer, and Jeanette (Junior) Hamby; brother, Jerry (Lisa) Miller; brother-in-law, Doug Wood; special friend, Margaret Gross and her daughters, Lauren and Kristen.
Bill loved his nieces and nephews and was so proud of their accomplishments and requested they all serve as his pallbearers. Missy (Mike Begley) Wood, Blake (Jenni) and Ella Wood; Chad (Kristy) Brewer and Logan (Liz) Brewer and Avary Brewer, Rusty (Rachel) Brewer and Callie, Cade, Camden, and Case Brewer, Brad (Jamie) Hamby and Griffin Hamby, Jenni Harbison, Zoe, Meg and Bay Harbison, Sydney (Blake) and Halle Huffman, and Dylan (Briley Hurd) Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Delano Baptist Church, with David Carroll and David Tullock officiating. Interment will follow at Delano Cemetery, with his nieces and nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his broadcast friends.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation with gratitude to the staff at Tennova Healthcare, Hospice of Chattanooga, and David Tullock for their genuine care.
