In Loving Memory of William “Bill” Salazar
May 13, 1954 ~ November 19, 2025
William “Bill” Salazar, age 71, of Broken Bow, NE, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, in Ord, NE, at Arbor Care. He was born in Wheatland, Wyoming, to Placido Jesus “Jess” and Jennie (Otero) Salazar and was the 10th of 12 children, growing up surrounded by a large, loving family.
Bill married the love of his life, Mary Salazar. He was the devoted father of Mandy (Andy) Holland and Kea Salazar, and the proud grandfather of Tatum and Qwintin Holland.
Bill is also survived by his siblings Joe Salazar, Larry (Melissa) Salazar, Teresa Garcia (Blake Smith), Rose Salazar, Bert Salazar, Elsie Salazar, Mary Fernandez, and Margie Katle; sister-in-law Debbie Salazar; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Connie Velasquez and Julia Salazar; brother Rhuben Salazar; sister-in-law Bridgett Salazar; and brother-in-law Bryce Fernandez.
Bill worked for several years with the Custer County Roads Department and was respected for his dependability and service to the community.
He enjoyed playing pool, attending demo derbies and stock car races, watching fireworks with family, and taking drives—especially when the destination included a banana split.
Bill will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, NE. Burial will follow in the Gates Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Family or Valley County Hospice. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present to greet friends at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
