William (Bill) Kenneth Scarborough, 62, of Modesto, California, passed away unexpectedly on November 7,2025, at Doctors Medical Center, Modesto, California.

Born on July 20, 1963 in San Jose, California to W.T. Scarborough and Dorothy Brown, Bill grew up in San Jose, where he attended Pioneer High School and the Lincoln High School Performing Arts Magnate Program. It was at Lincoln where he discovered his passion and talent for performing on stage as an actor and musician. He continued pursuing those passions through the years playing percussion with the Concord Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps as a teen, and later playing with several worship bands at Central Christian Church in San Jose, Hope Christian Church in Los Gatos, and Calvary Community Church in Manteca. At Central and Hope, he also regularly performed on stage in many musical and dramatic productions as well behind the scenes as a director of several productions.

Bill met his loving wife, Laura on a blind date in 1982. They soon fell madly and deeply in love and were married May 14, 1983.They shared 42 years of marriage building a life together and filling their home to the rafters with their five children: Hollie, Zoë, Abigael, Jodie and Daniel, as well as countless fur babies through the years who completed their family with so much love, cuddles and sloppy, wet kisses. Through the years, it was a boisterous home filled with love and laughter that often did resemble a three-ring circus as someone visiting once observed. Bill, as the ring master always telling the best dad jokes, wouldn't have had it any other way.

Bill had a distinguished career as a journeyman plumber and foreman through the UA Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 393 in San Jose for over 33 years. He was known for his quick wit and strong work ethic. He was most proud of being a part of building Levis Stadium, Apple Park and Googleplex.

Retirement for Bill came much sooner than he anticipated after he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2023. Treatment was hard but he was motivated and determined in treatment with the hopes of resuming doing the things that he loved most including brewing beer, officiating weddings, playing golf with his kids, attending musical theater with Laura and hanging out at the dog park with his chihoodle, Kingston, and their friends. Thanks to a successful stem cell transplant the summer of 2024, his cancer was in remission as he and Laura began to make plans for retired life together.

Bill is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Hollie (Ben), Zoë, Abigael (Rafael), Jodie (Gerry) and Daniel; grandchildren, Hazel, Fallon and Oliver; and his brother Michael (Karen), and sisters, Teri and Toni (Hans); and many cousins and friends all who loved him for his thoughtful, powerful wisdom and his quick sarcastic sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. Scarborough and Dorothy Brown, as well as countless other loved ones, all who greatly impacted his life.

A memorial service is pending at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to petsnpals.org.
