Mr. William Edward Wall, Jr., 84, of Hartwell, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 9, 2025 at his home surrounded by his wife of 61 years, and his 6 daughters and family.
Bill was born on February 1, 1941 in Everett, MA. He was the son of the late William Edward Wall and Phylis Peterson Wall. Growing up in Atlanta, Mr. Wall attended Marist High School and graduated with a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Economics from St. Bernard College, Cullman AL. There Bill met the love of his life, Leona, who was in Nursing School at the time. They moved to Atlanta and started their family of six GIRLS. Throughout Bill's life, he was always dedicated to the Church and his family! Bill was always volunteering: Basketball coach, Athletic Director, St. Vincent de Paul, Pro Life, and a life-long Knights of Columbus member. Bill felt strongly about raising his girls in the Catholic Faith. Just as he was a proud graduate of Marist Catholic High School in Atlanta and St. Bernard College, he and Leona sent all the girls to Catholic Schools, K-12, St. Thomas More Catholic School and St. Pius X Catholic High School.
Bill's humble motto was: I don't do it, the Holy Spirit does.
Bill Wall was an entrepreneur. He started a manufacturing of industrial cleaning supplies company, Solar Chemicals, the same year his 6th daughter was born, and the family moved to Stone Mountain, GA. As a family, they would frequent the campsites of Hartwell State Park. After retirement, Bill fulfilled his dream of moving to Lake Hartwell, where they loved living on the lake. He started a second career caring for children as a Hart County School System trainer and a school bus driver. In Hartwell, Bill and Leona were proud members of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, The Finance Committee, and the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
Bill always loved cars. As a younger man, Bill pushed the limits of racing cars. His crew competed on figure 8 courses. Later, he would rebuild engines so his girls could get safely to school. His favorite pastime after "floating and boating on the lake" was a day playing golf. Bill put the "a day on the golf course was better than any day at work" motto to work. Bill didn't mind what his score was - just that it was a good day (preferable under 100).
Mr. Wall was a faith-filled man, devoted to his wife and family and is survived by his wife: Leona Collier Wall; his six girls: Phylis Foster (Greg), Ann Gabriel (Geoff), Tricia Merry (Bob), Stacy Shirley (Chris), Frances Klotz (Jeff), Christine Wall Alfano; two brothers: Peter Wall (Judy) and their daughter Heather (Mark), Philip Wall (Susan); grandchildren: Sara Foster McDaniel (James), Grayson Foster (Faustin), Luke Foster, Elizabeth Gabriel O'Laughlin (Alexander), Rebecca Gabriel, Katheryn Gabriel Moreno (Nicolas), Alexandra Gabriel, William Gabriel, Connor Merry, Amanda Merry Meigs (Ray), Morgan Merry, Madelyn Shirley, Noah Klotz, Joshua Klotz, Isabelle Klotz, Emma Klotz, Fulton Klotz, Bradley Wall, Maximilian Alfano (Madison), Kate Alfano, Nicholas Alfano; great-grandchildren: Addison Foster, Autumn McDaniel, James Michael McDaniel, Walker Shell, McKenna Shell, Cash Shell, Billy Moreno, Collier Meigs, Poppy Meigs, Charleston Wall, and baby O'Laughlin.
