Eleanor Ruth Wall

Eleanor Ruth Wall of White Cloud, MI, died surrounded by loved ones at the age of 82 on January 27, 2026, after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She is missed dearly by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Wall; her children, Elizabeth Renee Sidor and Theodore Wall; her sister Fran Childs; her grandchildren, Nichole Sidor, Justin Wall, Danielle Sidor, and Jessica Clark; and many other family members including her beloved nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was born to Ella and Frank Welch on June 26, 1943, near Okemos, MI. She was the youngest of five siblings, including Kate Bott, Chuck Welch, and Phyllis Matthieu, who predeceased her.

Those lucky enough to know Eleanor cherished not only her endless generosity, but her dry wit, keen eye and independent cast of mind. After raising her children in Grand Rapids, MI, Eleanor spent the second half of her life with her husband on 40 wooded acres down a dirt road not far from where she had once lived as a child. There, she hunted and fished; traced her family’s genealogy back into the 12th century; taught her grandchildren to identify the local plants and animals; pursued ambitious sewing, knitting and cooking projects; played thousands of games of Scrabble and cribbage; and served as a trusted confidante and pillar of support to all her family.

A memorial gathering will be scheduled for the spring.
