Bill Warner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 1, 2025.

Bill J. Warner, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at his El Castillo home in Santa Fe on October 26, 2025, surrounded by his three daughters. He was born on July 17, 1931 in Ft. Lupton, Colorado to J.C. and Dakota Warner and raised on the family ranch.

Bill's wife, Joan Warner, passed away in May of 2024. He's survived by his three daughters, Cynthia Warner, Sandra Whitney (John) and Carie Corry, and his six grandchildren who adored him, Tucker Whitney, Tegan Whitney, Kyla Pinkard (Theo Stanley), Dakota Corry, Noel Corry and Skye Corry.

Bill's life was marked by his love for his wife and family, his compassion, generosity, humility and humor. He graduated from Ft. Lupton High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Shelton DD 790. He met his wife of 68 years, Joan while attending Colorado State University where he got his BS in Soils Science. He began his professional career with the Soil Conservation Service, then moved to Bureau of Land Management, retiring as Chief Appraiser in 1985. He loved wood-working, wagon-building, hiking, skiing, travel, working on projects around the home, and helping his daughters with their homes and projects too.

Bill and Joan moved to New Mexico in 1964, living in Roswell and then Socorro. They settled in Santa Fe in 1968. They traveled far and wide over the past 50 years, exploring much of the world, with Maui, Colorado, Switzerland and Italy being their favorite destinations.

He was active with Santa Fe Rotary Club. He and Joan were long-term members of St. John's United Methodist Church.

Bill touched many people's lives throughout his life with his kindness, his gentle way, and his cowboy manners and ways. His daughters, grandchildren and friends will miss him immensely and will hope to carry on his kind and generous spirit. Service date not set yet, likely in Spring-time.
