On April 28th, 1962, in the picturesque city of Portland, Oregon, Billie Jean "Jeannie" Bates was born to Billy Bates and Ethel Jewel Gray. Jeannie established her place in the City of Roses, leaving a monumental imprint in the city's rich history, starting with her educational journey while attending Trinity Lutheran Elementary Kennedy Elementary, and Boise Elliot Elementary, later graduating from Franklin High School.
Jeannie's journey of love started soon after graduating from high school, where she met the charming Danny Lee "Danny Boy" Bostic Sr. Together, they created a beautiful love story. Their story was complete with three lovely chapters, each one introducing their three amazing children, Isaiah Sr., Danny Jr., and Jasmine. The couple decided to tie the knot on Valentine's Day in 1989, making their love story even more enchanting. As a mother, Jeannie found solace in her children's embrace. Yet, her heart knew no bounds of love until she donned the mantle of a grandmother to 12 precious souls. Each one held a special place in her life, and she showered them with her unwavering love and affection.
Jeannie was introduced to Christ at a young age and later rededicated her life to serving Him. She and her three children became faithful members of the Highland United Church of Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor W.G. Hardy Jr. Jeannie was the very first Deaconess to be ordained at Highland UCC. She had a remarkable gift as a prayer warrior and was a proud believer in God's everlasting word, demonstrating faith that surpassed a mere mustard seed. One of her famous quotes was "Faith without works is dead," which encapsulated her powerful words and the way she lived her life with unwavering trust in the Lord.
Jeannie later married Roy Maxie. She became the First Lady at Church of The Living God, Temple 102. Jeannie became a Faithful member at Greater Solid Rock COGIC, under the
leadership of Bishop A.R. Hopkins Sr. While at Solid Rock, Jeannie also became an Ordained Missionary. Jeannie was a diligent worker she could be found being a Adjutant to the Supervisor, Communion Worker, assisting in local Women's Department. She was a Adjutant Sister in the Jurisdiction and National Church. She served on the Jurisdiction Women's Executive Board and Sargent of Arms. From the Praise Leader to the Praise Team she served everywhere. Church was Jeannie's LIFE! She has always been committed to the church her whole life.
