Billie Sue Dunaway, 47, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 30, 2025, in Danville, Kentucky. Billie was a member of the Beattyville Church of the Nazarene. Her faith was a quiet but powerful presence that shaped how she loved, served, and cared for others.
She was born on June 29, 1978, in Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Beattyville, Kentucky, a place she always carried in her heart.
Billie is survived by her loving parents, Linda Thacker and Steve Bowman, both of Beattyville, KY; her sister and best friend, Samantha Bowman (Adam) of Beattyville, KY; and two nieces she adored as if they were her own-Katie Bowman (James) of Lexington, KY, and Natalie Fike of Beattyville, KY. She is also survived by a special brother, Charles Bowman (Teri) of Morrow, OH, and other siblings. Billie leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends who adored her. Her life-long friends- Rebecca Miller-Campbell, Andrea Gabbard, Tammy Hall, Jeremy Atkinson and Jodi Treadway.
Billie shared her life for 18 years with her devoted companion and fiancé, Daylan Kinser, who stood faithfully by her side through every challenge. Billie earned her Master's Degree and became a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, dedicating her life to a meaningful career as a Mental Health Therapist. She was deeply passionate about helping others and made a lasting difference in the lives of the children she worked with. Just days before her passing, she retook her certification exam and achieved a perfect score of 100%-a true reflection of her determination, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to her calling.
Billie's warmth, creativity, and strength were known to all who met her. She had a deep love for the color purple, butterflies, Halloween, and music. In high school, she was known for her many talents and her old purple Camaro-a symbol of her vibrant spirit and independent soul.
She loved tending to her flower garden, spending time with her beloved cats, and especially cherished moments shared with her nieces and cousins. Despite the many challenges of her courageous battle with multiple sclerosis, Billie's kind and hopeful spirit never wavered. Even during her hospital stays, she continued to inspire others with her grace, resilience, and humor. She embodied strength and hope, serving as a true hero to her family and friends.
Billie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her gentle smile, caring heart, and unshakable spirit will forever remain in the hearts and memories of those she left behind
