McCager Farler

McCager Farler, widower of Shirley Ann Deaton Farler and son of the late Jake and LuSinda Neace Farler was born on April 29, 1934 in Perry County, Kentucky and departed this life in Lexington, Kentucky on October 26, 2025 at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 27 days. After serving in the United States Army, he worked as an electrician, owned a restaurant, and ran a radio station and recording studio where he recorded music with bluegrass musicians such as Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe, and Ricky Skaggs. He later went on to own and operate a flea market. He is survived by his four children, Virgil Farler, Tracy Harvey, Timothy Farler, and Carey Blevins; 8 grandchildren, Ricky Cager Farler, Olivia Yinger, Tonya Dunahoo, Deven Arnold, Michael Kidd, Katelyn Farler, Brack Newman, and Dillon Katzenmaier; 13 great grandchildren, Aurora, Aiden, Alexander, Azaiver, Brennan, Octavia, Carmen, Kardinal, Axel, Dominic, ShyLynn, Londyn, and Willow; a great-great granddaughter, Iyla; 7 brothers and sisters, Joseph Alex, Charles, Dan, Raymond, Martha, Gertrude, and Cora Sue; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Farler was preceded in death by four children, Sharon Kidd, Jakie Dan, Ricky, and Donald Farler; a granddaughter, Melissa Wagoner; two great granddaughters, Jaidynn Farler and Kennedy Lambert; two brothers, George Reford and Malcolm; and one sister, Elizabeth.
