Billie Sue Songer-Duncan-Bacon, affectionately known as Billie to those who knew her best, departed this life on January 11, 2025, at the age of 85 in Cameron, Texas. Born on June 20, 1939, in Hugo, Oklahoma, she was a woman of great strength and tenderness, whose loving heart and gentle kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of crossing her path.
The daughter of the late Lena Starnes and Luther Songer, Billie grew up in the community where she was born and carried with her the values of hard work and devotion to family. She was a proud graduate of her local high school, where she formed many lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her future endeavors. Billie carried the spirit of her education throughout her life, embracing every experience as a chance to learn and grow.
Billie dedicated many years of her life to housekeeping in Elder Care, where she not only maintained the highest standards of cleanliness but also provided comfort and companionship to those she served. Her work was not just a job; it was a manifestation of her innate desire to care for others. Her colleagues and those under her care will remember her for her dedication and the warmth she brought into their lives.
Family was the cornerstone of Billie's existence. She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Kay Duncan-Harwell and husband Bryan of Ada, Oklahoma; granddaughters Courtney Morrison and husband Jordan, and Jennifer Sneed and husband Jon, all of Ada, Oklahoma. Her legacy continues to shine through her great-grandchildren, Boston McKinnis, Kinsley Sneed, and Kamryn Sneed. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnnie Duncan, their son Johnny Duncan Jr., and her second husband, Miles Bacon Sr.
Billie's interests were simple yet profound. She cherished the time spent with family and friends, always ensuring that her loved ones were well taken care of. Her passion for cleaning was more than a profession; it was a reflection of her meticulous and orderly approach to life. Those who knew her will remember the comfort of stepping into her well-kept home, a place where love and care were in perfect order.
Described as loving, gentle, and kind, Billie's character was a beacon of light in the lives of many. Her gentle demeanor and unwavering kindness spoke volumes, often without the need for words. She navigated life's challenges with grace and emerged as a pillar of strength for her family and community.
As we bid farewell to Billie Sue Songer-Duncan-Bacon, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, service, and the pure joy of simple pleasures. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and her legacy will be cherished for generations to come. Billie's journey on earth has concluded, but the echoes of her loving spirit will resonate forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
