Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hubert Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jul. 31, 2025.
Billie Jean Hubert, 73, of Ashville, NY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:04 a.m.
She was born on December 4, 1951, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, the daughter of William and Eudora Guichard Bower. Billie Jean was a 1969 graduate of Youngsville High School in Pennsylvania and earned her degree in elementary education with a minor in art from Penn West Edinboro in 1973.
After 20 years of service she retired as the Executive Director of the Chautauqua Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Council-now known as Prevention Works-where she made a lasting impact on countless lives through her dedication to education, prevention, and support.
Earlier in her life, she owned and operated a Christian bookstore in Meadville, PA, and was a licensed insurance agent. She was a passionate advocate for children, actively involved in 4-H and youth development, serving as Den Mother for Cub Scouts, President of the PTA at Edinboro Elementary in Pennsylvania, and as a substitute teacher in the General McLane School District. Her passion for gardening was evident in the care she gave to her plants and vegetables, which she proudly entered in the Crawford County Fair.
Billie and her husband shared a love for travel, embarking on memorable adventures to Italy, Switzerland, Macedonia, Mexico, the Grand Canyon, Florida, New Orleans, and, most recently, London and Paris.
Billie was a devoted member of The Rock Church in Lakewood, NY, where her faith was a guiding light. She was a gifted watercolor artist who expressed herself beautifully through painting.
She cherished time with her family, especially the joyful gatherings at the family lake house on July 4th. Her whimsical fairy garden was a beloved tradition for her grandchildren, who delighted in the magical gifts left by fairies during their visits.
Billie is survived by her loving husband, John M. Hubert; three sons, Gabriel (Melissa) Davis of Mars, PA, Andrew (Maja) Davis of Evans City, PA, and Alexander (Maeghen) Davis of Golden, CO; a stepdaughter, Nicole (Matthew) Walters of Hazlet, NJ; and a stepson, Matthew (Sonya) Hubert of St. Petersburg, FL. She was a proud grandmother to Gabriel Davis Jr. of Golden, CO; Danielle Davis of Mars, PA; Helena and Matthew Davis of Evans City, PA; Kallie and Carter Walters of Hazlet, NJ; and Marisa Vaccaro of Cranberry Township, PA.
She is also survived by two sisters, Patti (Michael) Chase of Garland, PA, and Rebecca (Warren) Lundmark of Hudson, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her beloved dog, Chase, who brought her constant companionship and joy.
