Billie (Janie) Hickman Rand, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. She was born in Beaumont, Texas to the late Billie Cazes & Bill Hickman on April 12, 1944 & was raised in Plaquemine, LA. Years later, she moved to Watson, LA where she found the love of her life, Tignal Rand. Janie & Tignal were married for 14 short but wonderful years.
Mom enjoyed dancing. She was known to bust a move in the middle of Walmart & didn’t care what anyone thought. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, the outdoors, doing yard work (yes, you read that right) & loved plants. She never met a plant she didn’t like. And best believe if our dad brought her to Home Depot for something he needed, she was coming home with a plant. She often would get tongue tide. For instance at one of our family dinners she offered us all an ass blossom cake. Of course no one wanted it. Just for one of us to read on the label that it was in fact an apple blossom cake. Our mom was a one of a kind lady. She is survived by her children, Lisa & husband, Daniel Cady, David Landry, Nicole & husband, Dauane Fendt; grandchildren, Elric Cady, Heather & husband, Kenny Calvarso, Blaine Babin, Kaid Babin, Alisa Landry, & Donavan Landry; great grandchildren, Marisa, Kallie, Deja, Tatum, Khayden, Harper, Finley, & Brinlee Kate; as well as her niece & nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Billie Cazes & Bill Hickman; her husband, Tignal Rand; brother, Jimmy Hickman & sister-in-law, Priscilla. She is greatly missed & will forever be in our hearts. My brother, David & I would like to thank our sister, Nicole for going above & beyond for the care of mom.
A burial of her cremated remains will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10am at Household of Faith Galvez Campus Cemetery (17683 LA-933, Prairieville, LA 70769).
