Tony Rand Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNearney - Schmidt Funeral and Cremation on Feb. 18, 2026.
Tony Rand, age 61, of Shakopee, MN, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at his home.

Tony was born in Minneapolis, MN, on May 7, 1964, the son of Robert and Rae (Capesius) Rand. The family moved a lot when he was young, but ultimately considerered Shakopee home. He graduated college from St. Thomas University, with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Even though Tony had a career in accounting, his absolute favorite job was working side by side with his cousins at Riverside Liquor Store in Shakopee.

Tony married Steph Keller on November 11, 2000, at St. Aloysius Church in Prairie Du Sac, WI, In August of 2005 they welcomed their daughter, Lydia Rae into the world. Tony absolutely adored Lydia, and attended everything she did, from volleyball to all her choir concerts. He was very proud of her college choice of St. Olaf College. He was just an amazing Dad.

The family always looked forward to their weekend at the family cabin on Gull Lake in Nisswa, MN. Shuffleboard, sunsets on the dock, and pontoon rides were always part of the weekend. Tony was kind, quiet, and as everyone would say "Tony is so nice!". He wouldn't say a bad thing about anyone. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Tony is survived by his wife, Steph; daughter, Lydia; mother, Rae; Godmother Mary Joy, many special cousins, aunts, uncles and other family and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Bob, and they had a wonderful relationship as well. The family will hold a Private Family Graveside Service for both Tony and his dad at a future date.
