Billie Marie (Alexander) Leemaster-Hawkins of Norman, OK, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and loyal dog Zoey. Billie was born in Snyder, OK, on September 11, 1933, to James M. and Nannie Johnson Alexander and was one of four children.

Billie attended Midwest City High School, where she met JD Leemaster. They married in 1948 and had two sons, Jay and Larry. Billie was a dedicated wife and mother who loved attending her sons' activities. Whether it be at freezing football games or 100-degree baseball games, Billie was there for her sons. At their Lake Tenkiller cabin, she enjoyed all things lake life, from boating, fishing, skiing and entertaining family.

She was a hard worker who was compassionate, extremely generous and willing to help anyone in need. She became a practical nurse and worked for 20 years for family physicians in Midwest City. A woman of strong faith, Billie attended Hilltop Baptist Church with JD for many years, where they sang in the choir, hosted parties for their Sunday School class, made hospital visits and volunteered in numerous areas of the church.

Billie had a deep love for family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her greatest pleasures was taking care of her grandchildren from birth to preschool. Her grandchildren delighted in their many visits with her, which included playing on her sprawling lawn and numerous trips to movies, museums and the zoo.

She created beautiful apparel and crafted holiday wreaths, gifting them to her family and friends. She also loved dogs, and was known for collecting figurines of her beloved West Highland Terriers. Her favorite hobby was playing Scrabble, a game she always won.

After JD's death in 1999, Billie moved to Norman and met and married Thomas Gary Hawkins in 2014. Billie and Gary traveled extensively, and their cruises took them around the world from Japan to Dubai. One of her favorite experiences was their visit to Petra in Jordan. They also enjoyed road trips – traveling across the nation to visit many state capitals and Navy ship reunions.

Billie was preceded in death by both her parents; three siblings, James Alexander Jr., Edna Briem, and Pat Parker; her first husband, JD; her second husband, Gary. She is survived by her two sons, Jay Leemaster (Linda) and Larry Leemaster (Glenda) both of Norman, OK; three stepchildren, Tom Hawkins Jr. (Sandy) of Blue Springs, MO, Larry Hawkins (Sharri) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Rebecca Edwards (Anthony) of Twin Falls, ID. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Brooke Jones (Kyle) of Wilson, OK, Brett Leemaster (Alesha) of Norman, OK, Kyle Leemaster (Brittany) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Lynsey Ingold (Ben) of Norman, OK. Billie also leaves behind seven great grandchildren: Rylan, Emerson, Luke, Kai, Ellie, Austyn, and Penn, and leaves behind many other family members and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, September 13, at 10am at Moore Funeral and Cremation located at 400 SE 19th Steet., Moore, OK. A graveside service will follow at Sunnylane Cemetery, located at 4000 SE 29th Street., Del City, OK. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 4-7pm.
