Billie Stathacos, 94, of Fairfield, the beloved wife of E.J. Stathacos, M.D., passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025. She was born on November 9, 1931, in New York, NY, to the late Thomas and Ellen (Caloyianis) Stavros.
Billie moved from New York City to Fairfield at a young age. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1949 and later attended Brown University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in pre-med biology. During a summer school session at Harvard, she met E.J. Stathacos, whom she would later marry. Before her marriage, Billie worked at McKesson Medical Labs.
Billie enjoyed reading, cooking, horticulture, and art appreciation. Some of her favorite places were the New York City and Fairfield libraries, where she found joy and inspiration throughout her life. She was a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fifty years, although she spent forty of those years living in the South.
Billie is survived by her husband, E.J. Stathacos, M.D., and her son, James E. Stathacos, both of Fairfield.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Rite of Burial for Billie at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Avenue in Bridgeport. The service will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 10 a.m., officiated by Father Georgios Livaditis, Presbyter. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
