Billy Ray Bateman, Sr., 58 of Alexandria died on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at his residence after a sudden illness.
Billy Ray was born in Highland Park, IL on January 14, 1967, and was the son of Raymond P. and Evelyn M. (Brooks) Bateman. He was employed at Elsa in Elwood, IN.
Billy Ray enjoyed listening to his rock music such as AC/DC and he was an avid collector of crosses and skull replicas.
Survivors include his children, Billy Ray Bateman, Jr., Stephany Johnson and Christiana Bateman, brothers, Mike Bateman, Faron Ferrell, Wayward Ferrell, Jimmie H. Ferrell and Otis Davidson; sisters, Romona Potts, Debbie (Craig) Fields, Jamie Ferrell, Anita (Talmage) Conn and Teresa Green.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Abriona, Kyle, Emma and Jase; and close friend, Dashaun Johnson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria, Indiana 46001.
