Billy Guerin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laughlin Service Funeral Home & Crematory - Huntsville on Dec. 30, 2025.
Billy Ray Guerin, age 90, of Huntsville, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed on to eternal life on December 28, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Rosa Guerin of New Market.
Born January 1, 1935, Bill was heralded as the first baby born that year in Jackson County, AL. He grew up in Paint Rock and New Market, graduating from New Market High School in 1953. He joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea at the end of the Korean War. Shortly after returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Bishop Guerin, in 1956. He enjoyed a long and satisfying career as a Calibrations Specialist at Redstone Arsenal for U.S. Army MICOM, where he won many awards for exemplary service and outstanding accomplishments.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the great outdoors and watching Alabama football. A skilled carpenter, electrician, and handyman, Bill enjoyed working on home projects and lending a hand to friends and family whenever they needed help. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and was always happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Peggy; daughters, Jeannie Munger (Russ) and Jan Toomey (Richard); grandchildren, Caroline Taylor (Brandon), Betsy Weldy (Cameron), Andrew Toomey and Davis Toomey; and six great-grandchildren, Savannah, Emma Kate, Jonah, William, Lewis, and Caleb; sisters, Patsy Perry of New Market and Wanda Beasley of Athens; and brother, Connie Guerin of New Market.
Bill's life legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to bless the lives of those who were fortunate to know him.
Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the funeral directly following. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Huntsville Park Baptist Church, 3120 Triana Blvd SW, Huntsville, AL 35805.
