Billy Harold "Bill" Heilig

Billy "Bill" Harold Heilig, 77, of Staley, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 with his wife and sons by his side.
Memorial Services, 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Staley with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM in the church sanctuary.
Bill was born in Staley, NC on May 26, 1947, son of the late Leo Franklin and Sara Mae Foust Heilig. He graduated from Ramseur High School and attended Randolph Tech, where he learned to be a machinist. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and served in the United States Army for two years, leaving with the rank of Sgt. After his time in the service, he returned home and began working for Gilbarco, retiring after 36 years. Bill married Patti Martin on November 20, 1982 and the two of them moved to the Oak Ridge Community where they raised their two boys. He was very involved in the community, serving a number of years as President of the Oak Ridge Youth Association. Bill loved teaching his boys to play baseball, basketball and golf.
After his retirement, Bill and Patti returned to Randolph County where they have lived for the past 24 years. Bill was a member of the Post 81 American Legion in Liberty and an active member of the Grays Chapel Lions Club. He enjoyed being outdoors and planting in his garden, but he got most of his enjoyment spending time with his five grandsons.
Survivors: wife of 42 years, Patti Martin Heilig, of the home, sons, Adam C. Heilig and wife, Christina, of Ramseur, Seth M. Heilig and wife, Mary, of Pine Level, sister, Betty Jo Heilig Frazier, of Ramseur, grandchildren, Skyler, Hugo, Eli, Gio, Seth Jr., as well as several nieces, nephews, family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Stout, Barbara Jean Hicks, Rebecca "Becky" Kidd, Brenda Smith and brothers, W.D., Tommy and Bobby Heilig.
