Billy Dewain Hendrix, age 78, passed away on Friday, August 1st 2025 at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Billy was born on March 21, 1947 in Statesboro, GA to the late Ira Hendrix and Esther Rigdon Hendrix. He was raised in Bulloch County and was a 1965 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. Billy worked as a farmer for most of his life and also with T. E. Rushing Peanut Company. He was an active member and part of the brotherhood at Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Bobby Hendrix, and his sister, Iris Brannen.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Michele Hendrix, his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger Hendrix Barnard and Chip Barnard, his bonus daughter, Cassie Justen, his grandchildren, Bailey and Dakota Hendrix, his bonus-grandchildren, Peyton, Hannah, and Harley Barnard, as well as two great-grandchildren, Lakelynn and Leighlynn, his sister, Willette Newman, as well as extended family and many close friends.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 5th from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Elder Keith Hamilton officiating.
Interment will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be James Nevil, Bill Akins, Jamie Hagan, John White, Alex McGee, and Clayton Lanier.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, PO Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
