Billy Lee "Coon" Horner

Billy "Coon" Lee Horner, 71, of Fairmount, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, singing gospel songs. He was born in Birchwood, Tennessee on March 26, 1951, to the late Joseph Augustine and Ila Moline Taylor Horner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Pete Horner, James Henry Horner, Roy Horner, Mabry Talton, Betty Easley, Ruby Long, and Diane Benson; father-in-law, J.M. Griffin; sisters-in-law, Linda Dilbeck (Robert) and Brenda Parker; brother-in-law, Timmy Griffin (Naketa); nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Billy was a graduate of Fairmount High School where he excelled in athletics, especially baseball, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He dearly loved his family and adored his grandchildren.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon Joan Horner; son, Martin Horner; daughters, Belinda Pass (Jason) and Courtney Lyles (Timmy); siblings, David Horner (Nancy), Tommy Horner (Faye), Mike Horner, and Barbara Collins (John); grandchildren, Bre Forte (Mac), Aundrea Dutton, Brooke Horner, Tyler Lyles, and Zach Lyles; great-grandchildren, Paris Dutton, Lane Dutton, and Ollie Forte; mother-in-law, Jessie Lee Griffin; brothers-in-law, Buddy Parker and Johnny Griffin (Jeanne); sister-in-law, Judy Thomas (Jerrell); other relatives, Newt Pass, Kirsten Gordon, and Braylee Moore. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives survive.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 3:00 PM from Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Rev. Chris Stanley, and Rev. Dwight Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove "Ryo" Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Martin Horner, Tyler Lyles, Zach Lyles, Timmy Lyles, Jason Pass, Brent Holden, Mac Forte, and Lane Dutton. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Quinn, Scotty Blaylock, The Robbins' Brothers, Grady Burger, and Billy's nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Heritage Baptist Church.
The family will also receive friends prior to the service on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
