Donald Eugene Waters

Donald Eugene “Don” Waters, age 83 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at his residence.

Don was born on April 28, 1942 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Homer Eugene Waters and Feriby Gainous Waters. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: one son, Billy Chandler; and one sister, Annette Waters. Don served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Georgia Power for more than 30 years. Don was a member of Sonoraville Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with and carving wood, being outdoors, and was an avid camper. Most of all, Don loved spending time with his family.

Don is survived by: his wife, Vickie Teague Waters; two sons, Scott Castleberry and his wife Kelley, and Kevin Castleberry and his wife Bridget; three grandchildren, Harrison, Mason, and Bryson Castleberry; and sister, Janice Waters Black and her husband Phillip.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 3 PM until 6 PM at Thomas Funeral Home and also on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Sonoraville Baptist Church. 

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11 AM at Sonoraville Baptist Church with Reverend Jamey Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 2 PM with military honors.

Pallbearers serving include: Mike Mowry, Joe Fernandez, David Temples, Ken Ray, Kevin Castleberry, and Scott Castleberry.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Don may be made to the Sonoraville Baptist Church Renovation Fund at 262 Old Fairmount Road, SE, Calhoun, GA 30701.
