Kevin Dale Reed, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 18th, surrounded by his family. Born on March 27, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, Kevin made countless memories throughout his life that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
As Vice-President of Northwest Georgia Paving, Inc., Kevin dedicated himself to his work with unwavering passion. He took immense pride in providing for his family, showcasing not just a strong work ethic but a deeper love for those closest to him. His commitment to his career was matched only by his devotion to his family, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as going out to eat together and spending cherished moments outdoors.
Kevin's heart swelled with pride when it came to his children. He was particularly proud of Damon Paul Reed and Tabitha (Nick) Warren, who brought him so much joy and fulfillment. The bond he shared with his children was a testament to the loving and supportive father that he was. Kevin delighted in his role as Grandpa to Logan and Dean Warren, showering them with affection and wisdom, ensuring they knew just how treasured they were.
He is survived by his devoted wife of over 48 years, Melody Loyd Reed, who stood by his side through both challenges and triumphs. His mother, Georgia McKinnies Reed, and siblings, Lonnie L. (Susan) Reed and Kathy (Bob) Prather, along with his cherished son and daughter, remain to honor his memory and continue his legacy. Together, they will carry forth the lessons he instilled and the love he spread throughout his life.
Kevin was also preceded in death by his father, Rev. Paul L. Reed, whose influence shaped the man Kevin became, fostering a spirit of strength and kindness that will live on through his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, October 25th, at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Darnell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 PM before the service.
As we reflect on Kevin's life, we remember a warm-hearted man who reveled in the beauty of every moment he spent with family, who thrived in nature's splendor, and who profoundly impacted everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is woven into the fabric of his family's story—one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication. Kevin Dale Reed will be dearly missed but forever remembered, his spirit continuing in the hearts of his family and friends.
