Billy Jackson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caliman Funeral Services - Columbus on Oct. 1, 2025.
With a gregarious spirit and a heart full of light, Billy Earl Jackson was born on February 26, 1961, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was the second eldest and one of seven children of the late Harry Franklin Jackson, Sr., and the late June Marian (Wilson) Jackson. On April 23, 2025, Billy departed this world to be with the Lord.
Billy attended Pioneer High School, where he excelled as an All-American athlete. He was a gifted orator, musician, father, and partner-an individual whose talents knew no bounds. A self-taught singer and musician, he mastered the piano, organ, three different guitars, and the drums, filling every space he entered with music and joy. As a spiritual leader, Billy was devoted to spreading words of light and wisdom to all who would listen.
Billy thrived as a leader in his profession and was dedicated to his work with Columbus City Schools. Known for his outstanding work ethic, he approached his job with immense pride and reliability. His dedication earned him numerous accolades, including the "Contract Manager of the Year Award for Outstanding Achievement" from Licking/Knox Goodwill Industries, Inc. for three consecutive years, as well as the "Contract Employee of the Year Award" from Goodwill Industries.
Billy met his wife Crystal in Metro Atlanta, Georgia in 1991 and they were happily joined in marriage on November 1, 1996. Billy and Crystal moved to Columbus in 1996 where they settled in and called it their home. This bond has withstood, in sickness and in heath, for richer or for poorer, forsaking all others, till death did separate them. Billy had a deep and sincere love for his family. Whether traveling to Chicago to spend time with Trina, Jackson and Hampton or traveling to Florida to spend time with Brandon, Kris, Kyrie and Brielle. Every moment mattered.
Billy was preceded by his parents; brothers Kevin Jackson and Richard Jackson and niece Ashley White. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Crystal; his son, Brandon (Kristin) Jackson, daughter, Katrina Jackson; sister, Dawn "Joy" (Jeff) Copeland, Harry Jr. (Erika); Quint (Rhonda) and Matthew; Stepson, Melvin K. Pearson; Brother-In-Law Darryl Crumiell.
He leaves to love and cherish his memory; eleven grandchildren who he also coined as his "busters;" Jackson Bowden, Hampton Bowden, Kyrie Jackson, Brielle Jackson, Melvin Pearson, Jr.; Ramell L. Pearson; Kyniah J Pearson; Avery Pearson; Sean Pearson; August Pearson, Marquell Pearson; and one Uncle William Jr (Jenne) Wilson, four Aunts Joan Byers, Geneva "Ginny" (John) Hardin, Gloria Bent and Rodora Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
Billy's legacy is one of love, dedication, and inspiration-a life well lived and a spirit that will continue to shine.
