Clyde Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caliman Funeral Services - Columbus on Dec. 3, 2025.
Clyde Tilford Williams, aged 89, was born on August 6, 1936, in Beckley, West Virginia to Virginia Williams Brown, his beloved mother and father, George Pullin. Clyde was also cherished by his grandparents, Lucy and Ed Allen Williams, and his aunts, Ruby Williams, Wealthy White and Bashalie Law. He was preceded in death by these dear family members, as well as his cousin Deanna Williams and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Lashan Williams.
Clyde graduated from South High School in Youngstown, Ohio. Soon after, he joined the United States Airforce, serving honorably for eight years before his discharge.
Upon completing his military service, Clyde began his civilian career at Newark Air Force Base before moving on to DSCC (DCSC). After retiring, he continued to work part-time at Kohl's. Clyde volunteered in the Mercy Hospital Emergency Department post-retirement.
Clyde found salvation at a young age and remained a devoted member of the Southfield Community Missionary Baptist Church. He shared his love of music by singing with both the Male Chorus and the Mass Choir. His dedication to the church included serving as a past Trustee and participating in the Men's Committee.
Clyde was actively involved in the Marion Franklin Area Civic Association for over 50 years, contributing in many capacities throughout his life. He was a proud Mason and member of Lodge #7, and he also performed with the Men In Black at the Marion Franklin Recreation Center.
Clyde's hobbies were numerous, ranging from photography, painting, gardening, and wine making, to enjoying music, movies, reading, and crossword puzzles. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Cleveland Browns. Clyde had a warm, welcoming presence, known for his infectious energy and his smile that lit up every room. His singing brought joy to everyone in the sanctuary.
Clyde is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Viola E. Williams; his son Christopher T. Williams and granddaughters Kayla, Madison, and Morgan, all of Atlanta, Georgia; and his son Dale E. Williams of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by his favorite aunt, Oretha Smith, special cousins Dr. Ron Daniels, David Daniels, Joseph Williams and daughters in Christ, Robin Davis, Deidra Edwards, and Melanie Brown and a host of other family and friends. Clyde Williams will be remembered for his devotion to family and community, his artistic spirit, and his radiant smile. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
