Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ripley Funeral and Cremation Services - Ripley on Dec. 9, 2025.
Billy Wayne Jackson, known to all who loved him as Bill, met the promises of his dear Savior on Sunday, December 7, 2025, as he peacefully departed his earthly walk at Resthaven Nursing Home in
Ripley, Mississippi.
Services honoring his life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Brookman and Bro. Randy Hurt officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday evening, December 10, 2025, at Ripley Funeral Home, and will continue from 9 AM until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will follow in Falkner Cemetery.
Born June 21, 1944, at his family home in Falkner, Mr. Jackson was the son of the late Pearce and Ruth Dillon Jackson. A proud 1963 graduate of Falkner High School, he was a man whose roots remained firmly planted in the community he held so close to his heart. A gifted carpenter and hard-working provider, he served his country in the National Guard before dedicating more than fifty years to homebuilding-crafting not just houses, but places where families would build their lives. His hands were skilled, his work dependable, and his integrity unquestioned. On June 20, 1997, he married his beloved wife, Mrs. Ollie Plaxico Jackson, and together they built a life marked by companionship, devotion, and the love of family.
A Christian and faithful member of Mt. View Baptist Church, Mr. Jackson was a man who found peace and purpose in the outdoors. Whether coon hunting under a quiet Mississippi night sky, running dogs, tending the land on his tractor, or restoring old cars-including one he masterfully built from the ground up-Bill never strayed far from the simple, honest pleasures that shaped him. His outgoing personality made him a friend to many; he never met a stranger, and his ability to connect with others earned him the respect and admiration of all who crossed his path.
Though his absence will be felt deeply, the light he carried has not dimmed-it continues to shine in the lives of those he loved. It shines in his children, of whom he was immensely proud; in his devoted wife, whom he cherished; in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy; and in the countless friends whose lives he touched with kindness, laughter, and loyalty. His life was meaningful, his impact lasting, and his memory will be treasured beyond measure.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Ollie, memories will continue to be cherished by four sons, John Jackson, Juston Jackson (Lawana), David "Rudy" Moore, and Steve Cissom (Marlene), three daughters, Sherry Bishop (Ronney), Mandy Brock (Stanley), and Kim James (Tim), his sisters, Martha Wilbanks (Larry), Ann Carmack, and Nancy Jackson, his brothers, Eddie Jackson (Natha), and Jim Jackson (Ann), his grandchildren, Anna Jackson, Bella Jackson, Candice Still (Josh), April Matthews (Chris), Amelia James, Taylor Brock, Montanna Brock, Cayla Brock, Trae Jackson (Mallory), Aidan Jackson, Tyler Hearn, Adam Hearn (Kourtnie), Jesse James, Dalton Cissom (Autumn), Nathan Cissom (Brittany), and Dakota Moore, his great grandchildren, Kyra Bryant (Jake), Malia, Kendall, Eva, Hallie, Rosie, Addison, Ava, Jazlyn, Aliyah, Levi, Colt, Hayden, Liam, Parker, and Thomas, and his great great granddaughter, Lydia Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, J. P. Jackson, his sister, Lucille Kidwell, and his stepson, Stacy Cissom.
