Billy L. Jones went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 30, 2023, at Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation in Harrogate, TN. He was born on April 3, 1936 in Middlesboro, KY to the late George B. and Reba Noe Jones. He, along with his family, was a member of the Nazarene Church, Middlesboro, KY where he was saved.
Billy proudly served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War, where he worked in photography and refueling bombers. After his military service, he worked at Hickman’s Building Supply, Middlesboro KY, for over 40 years. He made many friends in the community while working there and became an expert home designer and builder. In his free time, Billy enjoyed shopping, trying new restaurants, and collecting knives. He was an excellent carpenter and home designer. He took great pleasure in fishing, photography and feeding his squirrels and birds daily. Spending time with his family, talking about his childhood and his work in the military was his favorite thing to do. Holidays were something he especially enjoyed. He loved decorating his home and cooking for his family every Christmas to make it extra special.
Billy was dearly loved by all who knew him, especially his family. He was known for being a good man who exhibited extraordinary kindness and generosity; and for loving his family with all his heart. His children will miss him tremendously and will cherish all the wonderful memories of the good life he gave them.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Betty L. Jones; sisters, Annabelle Duncan, Georgia Noe, Christine Maxwell, and Irene Parker; brothers, Johnny Jones, Homer Jones, Charlie Jones and Joe Jones.
Billy is survived by his children, Billy R. Jones, Rebecca Jones (Paul Ball), and Ruth Ann (Russ) Smith; grandchildren, Adam Miracle and Aaron Miracle; great-granddaughter, Allyson Miracle; sister, Barbara Mason; brother, Jack Jones; special friend and brother-in-law, Bo Maxwell as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
A special thank you goes to Billy’s caregivers, Donna and Sue and all those who prayed for him and visited him during his illness.
Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
