Billy Jones (William Lawrence Jones, Jr.) of Milan, Tennessee, passed away June 22, 2024. He was born September 2, 1955, in Munford, Tennessee to Bill and Nell Jones, who preceded him in death.
Billy attended Milan City Schools and Jackson State Community College. In high school, he was manager of the MHS football-team. He was honored with Billy Jones Day on his 40th birthday, September 2, 1995, and in 2004 Billy received the Inspirational Award from the Milan Chamber of Commerce. He worked at the Southgate Pharmacy in Milan for many years as an assistant where he delivered prescriptions to Milan residents. Most recently, the City Board voted to have a street named after him "Billy Jones Way". Billy was very involved with his Church, Cumberland Presbyterian, where he served in many areas. Billy's faith and love of Jesus shined bright in all that he did.
Billy is survived by his sisters, Dianne (Mike) Smith and Jenny (Larry) Beeman, nieces, Molly (Joe) Terry, Stacy (Jeremy) Hensley and nephews, Tony Beeman (Jeannine Clarke), Matt Qualls (Brandi), and John (Gail) Beeman. He is also survived by numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, along with many, many dear friends.
A celebration of Billy's life will be held at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Milan at 12:00 noon on June 26, 2024, with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church, The Mustard Seed or Oakwood Cemetery.

Although Billy was a huge University of Tennessee fan & the biggest Milan Bulldog fan -he was not just hung-up & tied down to one team like most. Oh no, he was way more intelligent! At one time I thought Billy could have had his own sports radio show! I'm sure if he'd been born a lil later, He'd probably had his own podcast!

Personally, I got to share one of the greatest moments in the University of Memphis Tiger football history with my "favorite" cousin Billy Jones.
The 2019 Cotton Bowl in Arlington Texas. And at that game- he WAS the biggest Tiger fan for sure! Although the game was an L for our beloved Tigers, our trip was a huge W for quality time w Billy Jones!

For those of you related (or not related) to Billy, "favorite" was a term of endearment Billy chose to call "whomever" he was addressing at the moment. ie "my favorite cousin, my favorite uncle, my favorite aunt, my favorite best friend."

Most couldn't get away with this "favorite" game he played. But THIS was Billy Jones. When I look back now, it was no game at all.
Billy was not just saying it to make you feel special he believed you WERE special.

Gonna miss you .
Your "favorite" cousin Ralph
