William F. “Billy” Kerschbaumer, Jr, “The Dragon! BAUMER” age 54, passed away suddenly of natural causes at his home in New Philadelphia on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
Born August 19, 1971, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of Linda Salisbury Smallwood of Scio, Ohio and William F “Bill” Kerschbaumer, Sr. of Midvale, Ohio, Billy graduated from Jewett-Scio High School in 1989 and honorably served in the US Navy from 1989-1993. After serving his country he attended undergraduate school for four years at The Ohio State University and received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1998. He was currently working as a pharmaceutical representative for Brightview Pharma in Cincinnati.
Billy loved life and his outgoing nature meant he never met a stranger. He had a passion for golf and was a member at Oak Shadows Golf Course. If he wasn’t spending his free time golfing, he was probably smoking brisket, grilling up a storm for family and friends, hunting or fishing. He loved going fishing with family and friends at French River, Ontario, Canada, offshore fishing in Florida and, his favorite spot, Lake Erie. Billy was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team and was considered by many fans of being a Doppelgänger of Coach Ryan Day! He was a member of the American Rifle Assoc. and the American Legion Post 482.
Surviving in addition to his parents is his brother Todd Allen Kerschbaumer of Stanley, NC, a sister Lisa Albaugh of Blacklick, Ohio, a nephew Rod (Christina) Omstead and his sons Bentley and Anthony.
Preceding him in death are brothers Tony and Lee Kerschbaumer.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 7 pm at Scio American Legion Post 482, 38175 Crimm Rd, Scio with Pastor Dixie McHugh officiating. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 4-7 pm at the Legion. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with his arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tuscarawas Humane Society, 432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663 or Harrison County Humane Society, PO Box 404, Cadiz, Ohio 43907. www.kochfuneral.com
