Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the funeral services for Mr. Billy R. Medders, age 79, who passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Medders was a lifelong resident of Appling County, a retired sheriff’s deputy with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department, a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army, and a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church.
Mr. Medders is preceded in death by two sons, Kelly Edwin Medders and David Medders; granddaughter, Victoria Riley; brother, Larry Medders, and parents, Ed and Annie Merle Meadows, and Wayne Medders.
Surviving is his wife of fifty-two years, Lawanda Medders, son, Ron Medders (Cheri), two daughters, Lisa Medders and Nickie Barnes (Ricky), seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother, Theron Medders, sisters, Diane Davis, Marty Hodges and Elaine Knipher.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, at 2 P.M. at Spring Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Chip Woodruff and Reverend Rick Brown officiating with a eulogy by Nate Barnes.
Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.
Mr. Medders will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Monday at Spring Branch Baptist Church.
Active Pallbearers are Brandon Morley, Bruce Medders, Brian Medders, Bengy Davis, Robby Barnes, Kenny Wright, and Jeremy Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Appling County Sheriff’s Department, and the employees of Baxley Huddle House.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
