Billy Mitchell, age 80 of Snellville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 3, 1945, Billy was the son of the late Mitch Mitchell and Jean (Cain) Mitchell. He lived a rich and hardworking life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to his family and friends.
Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Specialist (SP4). His service reflected the same courage, discipline, and loyalty that defined his entire life.
Following his military service, Billy spent more than 40 years self-employed, building a successful career through hard work, dedication, and integrity. He took pride in his work and in the relationships he formed over the years.
Outside of work, Billy had a deep love for motorcycles, collecting knives, and traveling to the beach. Most of all, he cherished time spent with family, who meant the world to him.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne (Hall) Mitchell; his children, Shawn Mitchell and Shay Nilsen (Erik); and his cherished grandchildren, Caitlin Mitchell, Patrick Mitchell, and Tyler Nilsen.
He will be remembered for his warm smile, big blue eyes, sense of humor, and kind heart, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and lived him.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Billy will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
