Billy George Sirockman, a man known for his unwavering courage, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown, WV. Born on the 17th of September, 1937, in the small town of Pursglove, WV, Billy's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his love of the outdoors, and his service to his country.
Billy proudly served in the US Army before beginning a storied career as a coal miner at Humphrey #7 Mine. His work not only showcased his strong work ethic but also his commitment to providing for his family and contributing to his community. Billy's roots ran deep in West Virginia, where he was admired and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As the beloved patriarch of the Sirockman family, Billy leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Sirockman, his mother Alice Sewash, his brother Ed Sirockman, and his grandchild Devin Paige Johnson. His memory will be cherished by his children: Mike Sirockman (Jacquie) of Westover, Mark Sirockman of Morgantown, Tammie Hewitt (Rob) of Morgantown, and Pam Johnson (Ken Michaels) of Falling Waters. His grandchildren Jamie Sirockman (Ashley), Jennifer Sirockman Walker (Andrew), Robbie Hewitt, Monica Johnson (Robert Ayers), and Ty Patrick Vincent will hold dear the experiences shared and lessons imparted by their loving grandfather; and a dear friend Carolyn Fowler.
Billy's zest for life was contagious; he was unarguably the life of the party at any gathering. He relished in cultivating his garden, hunting, and delighting in the simple pleasures of cooking and cutting firewood. Family gatherings were particularly special to him, as he treasured the moments spent surrounded by his loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to the Scotts Run Museum, 465 Scotts Run Road Morgantown, WV 26505.
Friends are invited to honor Billy's life at McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm and again on Monday from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery where full military honors will be conferred by Westover VFW #9916 and the US Army Military Honors Teams. Billy's impact on the lives of those he touched is immeasurable, and his spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by the many hearts he touched. Online condolences for the Sirockman family can be extended at www.McCulla.com. As we say farewell to Billy George Sirockman, we celebrate a life lived with unyielding courage and an everlasting smile.
