Billy Sorter

Billy Charles "Bill" Sorter, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, May 17th, 2023. He was born March 21st, 1943 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to his parents Earl and Lillian (Harris) Sorter. He was married to the late Clara Mae (Scott) Sorter, He was a resident of Indianapolis for most of his life.
Bill is survived by his two sons: Billy "Chuck" (Holly) Sorter Jr. of Indianapolis and Michael Edward Sorter of Greenfield; two granddaughters: Brittney (Dave) Hilt of Jasonville and Emily Sorter of Indianapolis; five great grandchildren: Cooper Charles, Jackson Lee, Mason Bernard, Madilyn Mae, and Hudson Lee; one sister: Judy Hawk; and one brother, Gary Sorter. Bill is preceded in death by both of his parents: his wife, Clara Mae Sorter; one son, William Jeffrey Sorter; two sisters: Arlene and Kim; and three brothers: Louie, James, and Bobby.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. He started at Ford Motor Company as a Tool and Die maker and after 33 years he retired as a General Foreman Supervisor. Bill loved to go fishing, hunting, golfing, and taking drives to take in the beauty of nature. He loved anything outdoors. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville.
