Francine Shepherd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Mar. 9, 2026.
Francine "Fran" Ola Shepherd, 91 of Camby, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2026 at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. Fran was born to the late Lester Dalton and Lillie Meeks Dalton on October 22, 1934 in Baldwin, Georgia.

Fran grew up in Homer, Georgia, and graduated from Banks County High School, where she was a cheerleader. She married Marshall F. Spencer Jr. and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1954. Upon arriving in Indianapolis, Indiana, she worked in the office at Link Belt briefly before working at Indemnity Insurance Co for 2 years. Fran moved to Mooresville, Indiana, in 1957, where she and Marshall started a family and raised four children. She was a homemaker for several years before returning to work in 1970 at General Shale Brick in Mooresville, Indiana, in quality control. She retired from General Shale in 1993. After 31 years of marriage, Fran lost her husband, Marshall, in December of 1985. At the age of 59, she married the second love of her life, Jim Shepherd, in August 1993. Together they enjoyed traveling, boating, and gardening.

Fran had an unwavering faith in God and studied the Bible with Shepherd's Chapel. She attended New Beginnings Christian Church in Waverly, Indiana. Fran loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed reading the Bible, shopping, yard work, and decorating. Fran was an excellent cook and took pleasure in preparing meals for others. She was talented in making floral arrangements and delighted in creating Christmas wreaths. She always looked forward to eating out with family and friends. Most of all, she cherished having the family together at holidays and family celebrations.

Fran is survived by her children; Debbie Spencer Shirar (Randy), Tina Spencer Pierce (Tim), Dan Spencer (Nancy) and Marshall Spencer, grandchildren; Craig Shirar (Cortnie), Eric Shirar (Traci), Tyler Pierce (Olivia), Andrew Pierce, Lauren Spencer and Lydia Spencer, and great grandchildren; Jamison Shirar, Emersyn Shirar, Caroline Shirar, Thompson Pierce, Cohen Pierce and Hadley Pierce.

Fran is preceded in death by her first husband, Marshal Spencer and her second husband, Jim Shepherd.

Visitation will be at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 am with Pastor Jim Taylor officiating. Fran will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery at a later date.
