Billy Lewis Sweat

Billy L. Sweat, 69 of Elizabethtown passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Hayward Sweat and Hannah Rose Lewis Gooden and his brother, Andy Sweat.
Billy was born on January 21, 1953 in Bladen County where he was raised. He completed High School and went on to become a pipefitter contractor.
Billy loved outdoor adventures like fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved classic cars. He recently restored his 1992 Chevrolet Silverado and enjoyed competing in local classic car shows. Billy enjoyed life and loved God and his family. Billy will always be remembered for the joy he brought to others and how he always was there for his family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 2:00pm at Whites Creek Baptist Church in Clarkton with the Reverend Kincy Barrow, Reverend Anthony Hardin and Reverend Bill VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
Billy is survived by his three girls, Andrea Sweat Hostetler; April Sweat; and Tina Starling; two brothers, Jerry Sweat and wife Beverly; Neil Gooden and wife Pam; seven grandchildren, Justin Campbell, Billy Austin Sweat, Adian and Mykela Canipe, Conley Frione, Sean and Ashlynn Hostelter.
