Mr. Billy Franklin West, age 94 of Advance, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026 at his home. Bill was born October 8, 1931, the youngest child of John and Mattie West. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Jean West. Surviving are one son, Mark West (Kelley) and one daughter Lori West, a beloved sister-in-law, Barbara Smith and many dear nieces and nephews. Bill was a member of Bethlehem Church. Always a baseball fan and helped coach the Smith Grove Little League team for several years. Bill worked at RJ Reynolds for over 37 years. In retirement, Bill enjoyed all things outdoors, especially if it involved riding a tractor or lawn mower. For many years he was a daily fixture at Andy’s Country Store getting his supply of chewing tobacco. Enabled by his golf cart, dad was the self-appointed neighborhood watch. He will be remembered by his children for his knack of creating nicknames for everyone he knew. We would like to extend our appreciation to our family at Bethlehem Church, for their many years of prayers, visits and support. Many thanks to dad’s caregivers, Becky, Carmen and Louise, enabling dad to remain in his home and faithfully providing our family with care and comfort. Also a special thanks to the staff of WellCare Hospice. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Bethlehem Methodist Church by Rev. Eddie Breen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church.
