The Obituary

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. For I fought a good fight,

I finished my course, I keep the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteous, which the

Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love

his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Bishop Daniel Williams was born in Johnston County, Middlesex, NC to the late Rev. Sandy and

Lendia Williams; a heart started August 14, 1932. Bishop Daniel Williams heart stopped on

September 19, 2025. Bishop Daniel Williams received his education through the Johnston County

Public Schools. He attended Richard B. Harrison. He later joined the U.S. Army from March 1951 to

August 1958. He served two terms in Korea. He received an HONORABLE discharge. In 1974-1975,

he attended Johnston Technical Community College. He majored in Business Administration. In 1961,

he married the love of his life Bertha Louise Hall.

Bishop Williams came into the ministry under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Williams of New

York in 1963. He pastored two churches: St Joseph Ellerbe, Ellerbe, NC, and Little Mission, Smithfield,

N.C. This church was a vision from God. God told him to build the church in 1993. They began building

in 1994. The construction of the church finished in 1996. They had their first service on the 2nd

Sunday of January 1997. Oh, what a time they had going inside and out saying, “see what the Lord has

done.” People said I could not build a church without any money. Bishop replied, I have the

money. They said “Where is the money. He replied saying, “I have love, faith, patience, and

determination. These four elements built the church and Jesus Christ the leader. Now, I leave the

church Paid in Full; so therefore, the church has no debt at all.

Bishop Williams loved to build. He was a jack of all trades. He had a sense of humor and loved to

eat. He loved the Lord and his family. He was a provider who made sure we got what we needed and

not what we wanted. He also spent many years working for R. L. Sanders.

Bishop Williams leaves to cherish his memories: Four daughters: Julia Storey (Eric), Selma,

N.C.; Edith Porter, Smithfield, N.C; Karen Chappell (Beri), Clayton, N.C., and Janice Bynem, Florence,

S.C. Five sons: Daniel Williams Jr, Petersburg, Virginia; Alan Williams (Vivian), Clayton, N.C. Rodney

Williams (Sarah), Selma, NC, Randall Williams (Charlene), Selma, N.C. and James Hall, Georgia. A

hostof grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews,

cousins, and friends.

He preceded by death: his, wife, Bertha Louise Williams, Parents-Rev. Sandy and Lendia

Williams, three sisters-Genora Hodges, Mary Archer, and Sylvia Vann, two brothers- James Williams

and John Williams, two sons- Anthony Williams, Sherwood Hall, and daughter- Marilyn Hall, two

friend) and Amberlyn Ellis (special personal care assistant).

You will be deeply missed, Dad, but never forgotten in our hearts. The soldier in you fought a

good fight until you could not fight any more. God called your name and peacefully you went. Take your

rest and we love you.
