Blake Michael Anderson, 44, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with late stage liver cancer on April 5, 2025. He was born on December 30, 1980 in Provo, Utah, to Gary and Joyce Anderson, and, in addition to Utah, spent his growing up years in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Texas.
A logical thinker and researcher at heart, Blake earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Brigham Young University, followed by a master's in cognitive psychology at Ball State University, after which he enjoyed a career in market research that took him and his young family first to Brooklyn, New York, and then to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Blake met his wife, Lindsay, with whom he was besotted, while a student at BYU. They married on April 23, 2005 in the Manti Utah temple and were blessed with five sons: Garrett, Caleb, Matthew, Danny, and Rees. He loved his boys fiercely and taught them by example to love the gospel. In addition, he was a father figure and friend to many in his life, always ready to listen and give well-reasoned advice.
Blake was passionate about many things, and dove head first into various hobbies that piqued his interest. He loved grilling and smoking meats, which he also loved sharing with his friends and family. And he especially loved birding and being outside in nature.
Blake was a kind, gentle, and humble man who loved the Savior. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held many callings, including as a missionary in Uruguay, and a bishop in Brooklyn. He loved serving with the youth, especially helping out as DJ at youth dances in his most recent calling on the stake high council.
Blake leaves behind so many who loved him, including his wife and five sons. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Lois Matthews, his parents, and siblings: Kimberly (David) Dickinson, Eric (Kiersten), Brittany (Glenn) Mackay, and Neil.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the Clough Pike Chapel located at 700 Clough Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 am. Internment will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
