It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of an exceptional woman, Blanca Alicia Cruz, who left this world peacefully on January 25, 2025, just shy of her 85th birthday. Born on February 9, 1940, her journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, her love for her family, and her spirit of kindness and generosity that left an indelible mark on the hearts of her many scores of students.
Blanca earned two Bachelor’s Degrees and three postgraduate Master’s Degrees while balancing a full-time career, raising a family, and being an active member of her church community. Her husband, Ernesto, often praised her as a true Proverbs 31 woman of strength, wisdom, and kindness and as his loving and faithful partner for over 60 years.
In celebrating Blanca’s life, we remember not just the remarkable woman she was, but the many lives she touched as a beloved teacher who was respected and deeply loved by her many students, often being invited to celebrate their most important life moments.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her siblings, Yolanda, Concepción, and Armando; her seven children and their spouses: John (Lori), Jacqueline (Tim), Libby (Jeff), Maritza (Robert), Daniel (Alice), Adriana (Ralph), and David; thirteen grandchildren: Jennifer Camille (Brett), Valerie, Grant, Bobby, Gabriella (Robert), Samuel, Joshua, Emma, Katie, Amber (Todd), Matthew, Danielle, and Anna—and two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Eloise. Each of them carries forward her spirit, her values, and her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to BIBLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL, 1 Bible League Plaza, Crete, Illinois 60417, Memo: WRFD Bob Burney Live.
A memorial service to celebrate Blanca’s life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (Northeast Chapel), 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road in Columbus, Ohio on February 14, 2025, with visitations from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Service at 7:00 pm.
Interment will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with the procession gathering at Newcomer Funeral Home at 11:00 am and driving to Kingwood Memorial Park at 8230 Columbus Pike (US Route 23) in Lewis Center, Ohio.
