Bob Floden

Bob Floden, 89, of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
Robert James Floden, son of Arthur Jennings and Martha Fern (Freeman) Floden, was born June 20, 1933, in Oskaloosa. His hard-working habits started when he sold papers at age eight to buy his first bike. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Oskaloosa High School, but through his education, he always had a job too. He set pins at the bowling alley and worked at Pepsi Bottling, the Sinclair Station, and Continental Overall Factory. On August 12, 1956, Bob married Amelia "Joan" Ancell at the Church of Christ in Oskaloosa. They made their home in Oskaloosa, and in the early '60s, Bob went to work for Edwards and Campbell building pole barns. In 1973, Bob and Joan purchased a farm north of Fremont; he continued to build pole barns in addition to farming until 1983 when he delegated all his time to his crop and hog operation. The farm remains home to the family.
Bob loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He will be remembered as being a man content with life and always willing to help a friend.
His family includes his wife, Joan; children: Mark (Sherry Phipps) Floden of Montezuma, Tim (Sue) Floden of Bussey, and Julie (Pat) Wernimont of Montezuma; five grandchildren: Aaron Floden, Tony (Robin) and Nick (Shanna) Floden, Dillon (Allison) Wernimont, and Angelle (Sam) Stewart; several great-grandchildren; brother, Paul (Beverly) Floden of Oskaloosa; and many extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two grandsons: Brandon Floden and Garrett Wernimont; three sisters: Betty De Hartog, Shirley Boender, and Sharon Scott; and two brothers: Junior and John.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Molly Goodrich of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Township Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday at Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will greet visitors from 2-4 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Mahaska Health Foundation for the Serenity House.
