Bob Levitz Obituary

Bob Levitz, age 88, of Deerfield, Founder of The Greater Chicago Group, later GCG Financial and now Alera Group. Bob had a tremendously positive impact on the lives of his associates and importantly on the clients they all served. In the financial services industry, he earned many distinguished awards and was often sought after as a featured speaker at industry conferences and collegiate forums due to his quick wit and unrivaled gift for telling stories.

He is the beloved husband and high school sweetheart of the late Donna Jean Levitz; loving father and mentor of Alan (Carrie), David (Lorrie), and Ricky (Julie) Levitz; adored "Grandpa Bob-O" of Zachary (Melanie), Jordan (Kelly), Annie (Aaron), Lexie (Jon), Andy, Hannah (fiancé John), Matthew, and Chloe; proud great grandfather of Dylan, Reese, Mia, Max, August, and Madison; devoted son of the late Arthur and the late Jean Levitz; dear brother-in-law of the late Linda (Steve) Randall; treasured uncle of Randy (Amy), Jessica, Josh, Jodi (Ken), Steven, Bleu, and the late Stephen. Bob and Donna's friends were dear to both of them. Bob was an avid golfer and loyal White Sox fan, and he was also an accomplished author. Bob left an indelible mark on countless lives that he impacted both personally and professionally. He leaves behind an impressive legacy that will inspire many generations to come. I met Bob Levitz 40 years ago when one of my best friends married his son Alan. Through the years, at different celebrations, he always welcomed my husband and me like we part of the family.
He will surely be missed.
We offer our sincerest condolences.

Dear Levitz Family,
We loved Donna and Bob and feel a personal loss at Bob's passing. Donna and I became close friends at Busey Hall at the U of I. She and Bob were in love with each other even then. They raised an exceptional family and were respected and loved by all who knew them. Our hearts are with you.

Bob was one of a kind, a very special guy with a big heart. I loved working with he and Donna at JDRF. They were kind and dedicated and always ready to take on any task that needed doing. His enthusiasm was contagious and there isn't anybody who could sell "the last ticket" with more energy and charm. He will be missed by all of us. Joan Beaubaire
