Robert Joseph Odle, age 67, of Basehor, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19th, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m., both at the Haven Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor, Kansas.
Bob was born on December 30th, 1957, in Kansas City, Kansas, and was the oldest of four children born to Joe & Sabra (McCracken) Odle. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, attending Park Elementary, West Jr. High and Wyandotte High School, before graduating from F.L. Schlagel High in the Class of 1975. Bob proudly served in the US Navy from 1975 to 1981 with the Attack Squadron Eighty-Three. On May 29, 1982, he married Debbie (Madden) in Kansas City, Kansas. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and strong faith, first in Kansas City, Kansas, and later in Basehor, Kansas. Bob retired after a 34-year career as a Train Engineer with the BNSF Railroad. As a dedicated member of Haven Baptist Church, he faithfully served in many capacities and had recently received ordination as a Deacon, a role he proudly cherished. Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, and showing off his famous chef skills, but his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family. He was known for his unwavering loyalty, thoughtfulness, and ability to put a smile on anyone's face. He had a special way of making people feel seen, supported, and loved.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sabra Odle.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Odle, of the home; daughter Ashley Odle (Jenn) of Shawnee, KS; siblings Mike Odle (Carmen) of Piper, KS., Dawn Edmonds (Russ) of Bonner Springs, KS., Sean Odle (Angie) of Tonganoxie, KS; mother-in-law Erma Madden, also of the home. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. Bob was deeply loved and touched the lives of anyone he met. His legacy will continue to live on in all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center for cancer research.
