Bob Stidham a beloved member of his community and dedicated family man, passed peacefully at his residence in Charlestown, Indiana, on March 10, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on August 21, 1936, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Bob lived a life marked by service, creativity, and deep affection for his family.

For most of his life, Bob found joy in construction, where he put his skills to work while also devotedly ministering for over 40 years. Bob was a founding member who established and built Freedom Gospel Church, in which he was also the pastor. His caring nature, abundant wisdom, and sense of humor left an indelible impact on those who knew him. Bob's interests were diverse, encompassing fishing trips with his grandsons, working in his shop, painting, camping, gardening, and studying the Bible. He was also known for his baking skills and his ability to create music with nearly any stringed instrument, especially the banjo and mandolin. Alongside his late wife Lavania, Bob participated in raising funds for the Crusade for Children by square dancing and playing music, a testament to his giving spirit.

Bob's proudest accomplishments included writing and publishing his book and sharing his teachings with others. He was a US Army veteran, embodying a sense of duty and commitment that he carried throughout his life.

He is survived by two cherished grandsons, Grant Miles and Justin Miles, along with many nieces, nephews, family, and church family who will carry forward his legacy and the treasured memories shared with him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alta (Fields) Stidham; loving wife, Lavania Stidham; brothers, Darrell Stidham, Alvin Stidham, Dorris Stidham; and sisters, Lula Fields, Shirley Kelly, Sue Thomas, Louise Whitaker, Pearl Banks, and Evelyn Banks.

A visitation will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grayson Funeral Home located at 893 High Street, Charlestown, IN 47111. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, concluding the celebration of Bob's life. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Charlestown, Indiana.

Bob Stidham will be remembered for his contributions to his community, his unwavering love for his family, and his remarkable ability to find joy in both simple pleasures and life’s deeper meanings. He leaves behind not only memories of love and laughter but also a legacy of faith and service that will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
