Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Keck-Coleman Chapel on Jan. 12, 2026.
Robert Lee "Bob" Wacker, a longtime resident of
St. Johns, Michigan and a former resident of Salem, Illinois, died peacefully on January 11, 2026, at the age of 93.
Bob was born on October 22, 1932, in
Ivesdale, Illinois, the middle of three children born to Fred and Jennie (Davis) Wacker. Growing up on the farm and helping his uncle instilled in him a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a lifelong appreciation for order and responsibility.
Following his graduation from high school, Bob proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country during the Korean War. It was during his Air Force service that he met the love of his life, Beverly J. Perry. The two were married on January 15, 1955, in Tacoma, Washington, beginning a devoted partnership that would span nearly sixty-seven years.
Bob and Bev made a life together defined by teamwork, love, and shared purpose. Bob truly lived his life for Bev, and the two did nearly everything side by side. His career as a branch manager and distributor in the propane industry took them across the Midwest and beyond, living in 18 homes across 14 towns, always willing to go wherever work led them. Bob retired at the age of 75, proud of a long and dependable career.
Known for being meticulous, neat, and highly organized, Bob was rarely without a pen and notepad, faithfully writing everything down. He was a man of habit, precision, and quiet humor, remembered fondly for his classic one-liners and dry wit.
Bob was also deeply involved in Bev's creative business, "The Added Touch," where he served as her bookkeeper and behind-the-scenes supporter. Bev's store became well known for its crafting and Christmas decorating, and Bob took pride in helping her succeed.
Above all else, Bob cherished time with Bev. Whether supporting her business, traveling for work, or enjoying the simple routines of daily life, their bond was the foundation of everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Wacker (2021); sons, Doug Wacker (1986) and David Wacker (2009); his parents; and sister, Peg Keoppel and brother-in-law, Harold Perry.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Jacqualyn Lehman; grandchildren, Bryanna (Nick) Weber, Scott (Jenna) Lehman, Gary Lehman, and Jason (Sara) Lehman; great grandchildren, Autumn and Meg Lehman, and Madison, Morgan, Brayden and Dexden Weber; sister, Karen (Jim) Beatty and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Maples of St. Johns, especially to Emily Wieber and caregivers, Nicole & Dustin, for their support, love and care these last years.
Private family services will be held with interment in Mt. Rest Cemetery in
St. Johns, Michigan. Memorials may be made in his name to The Maples of St. Johns.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The Maples of St. Johns.
