Graveside services for Bobbie Carter will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 31st, at Rainey Cemetery in Toone. There will be no visitation or other services.
Mrs. Carter, 91, of Toone, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 24th, at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.
The widow of Leroy Carter, who departed this life on May 13, 2010, she lived most all of her life in Hardeman County. She and Mr. Carter were wed on Christmas Eve, 1948. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Roy L. Leathers and Hazel Brown Leathers; and a brother, Billy Ray Leathers.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Mona Jacobs (Bobby) of Toone; two sons, Ricky Carter (Carolyn) and Tony Carter (Ina), both of Toone; her sister, Beverly Mainers (Frank) of Henderson; four grandchildren, Joshua Carter of Bolivar, Justin Carter of Toone, Brandy Warr of Navarre, FL and Cody Carter of Toone; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter worked as a beautician for 24 years, owning her own shop and was employed by Quinco in Bolivar from 1984-1996. A life-long member of Toone Baptist Church, she sang in the choir and kept the nursery for several years. She began her schooling at Cloverport and later attended Toone School where she enjoyed playing basketball. She was graduate of McCollum and Ross School of Cosmetology and, due to her talented "green thumb", was known for her beautiful flowers. Most of all, she loved caring and cooking for her family. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
