Lafayette - A visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Bobbie Theriot Delhomme, 86, who passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 in Breaux Bridge.
The visitation will take place at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist on Friday from 8:00 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am.
Very Rev. Father Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of The Cathedral, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Bobbie's life was not an easy one. She tragically lost her husband Paul, her mother Yolande, and her grandsons Jacob and Colby, far too early. In their loss, she showed a resilience and strength that was an inspiration to all. Her forgiving heart and her perseverance despite her hardships revealed her true grace and dignity.
Bobbie loved nothing more than meeting new people and getting to know them. To talk with her was to smile and laugh with her. She welcomed everyone and made sure they knew her love and friendship.
Bobbie will be remembered as a woman whose love knew no bounds and whose strength inspired all who knew her. Luke 2:19 describes Mary as a woman who could have said much, but held her deepest thoughts within herself. Bobbie shared that quality with the Blessed Mother and held inside the thoughts that were her deepest treasures as well as her deepest struggles. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
"What we keep in memory is ours, unchanged, forever."
She is survived by her son, Joseph Delhomme; daughters, Paula Antoine (David), Monique Billeaud (Gene) and Maria Dyer (Douglas); brother, Donald Theriot (Linda); grandchildren, Molly Billeaud Meche (Ross), Mindy Billeaud Lee (Bobby), Andre' Billeaud (Drea), Jacques Billeaud (Taylor), Ashley Antoine, Anthony Antoine, Allyson Dyer Brudi (Robert), Benjamin Dyer, Jada Delhomme and Paul Delhomme; and great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ames, Aubrey, Nora, Julia, Vera, Camila, Corinne, Clara, Jules, Jean-Paul, Madeline, Charlotte and Lawrence.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Delhomme; grandchildren, Jacob Antoine and Colby Courville; former husband, Frank Obermier; parents, Didier "DJ" Theriot and Yolande Landry Theriot; and sisters, Joyce Theriot Dugas and Juanita Theriot Naquin.
Pallbearers will be Andre' Billeaud, Jacques Billeaud, Anthony Antoine, Benjamin Dyer, Paul Delhomme and Ames Meche.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Delhomme and Jimmy Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bobbie's name to the Discalced Carmelite Sisters, Monastery of Mary, Mother of Grace at 1250 Carmel Dr. Lafayette, La 70501.
