Pellerin Funeral Home - Breaux BridgeBreaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 29, 2025 at St. Bernard Catholic Church honoring the life of Iris Soileau Guilbeau, 95, who passed away at her home with family by her bedside on November 24, 2025.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
A rosary will be prayed by the Men's Rosary Group at 6:00 PM on Friday, followed by a Eulogy given by her son, Matt Guilbeau.
Father Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Monica Guilbeau and Kim Leonard Guilbeau. Gift bearers will be Lori Guilbeau Belcher, Alexis Thibodeaux Montgomery and Amber Thibodeaux Poche.
Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.
Iris was born on August 10, 1930, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana. She and husband Stephen spent their first 25 years in Marksville before moving to Breaux Bridge in 1976.
Besides being a fantastic homemaker, Iris had a brief but satisfying career in the beauty industry as a skilled beautician, sharing her passion for cosmetology with those around her. Iris found joy in her Bourrée club, taking trips to the casino, visiting neighbors and friends, dancing and watching LSU baseball and football. Family meant everything to her and she cherished time spent with them, especially for Christmas. Her warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Guilbeau (Angeli), Danny Guilbeau (Kim), Wanda Guilbeau, Kent Guilbeau (Christine), and Matt Guilbeau (Monica); her cherished grandchildren, Lori Guilbeau Belcher, Stephen Guilbeau, Hunter Guilbeau, Daniel Guilbeau, Dustin Guilbeau, RJ LeBlanc, Cindy Guilbeau, Allen Guilbeau, Tad Guilbeau, Alexis Thibodeaux Montgomery, Amber Thibodeaux Poche, Dr. Seth Guilbeau, and Sean Guilbeau; 25 great grandchildren; son in law, Dane Berard; as well as her sister-in-law, Bernadine Soileau (Dean).
Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Guilbeau; parents, Golbert and Celestine Soileau; brothers, Ray Soileau and John L. Soileau; daughter, Mary Berard; infant granddaughter, Jeanne Guilbeau and infant great granddaughter, Jerzi Guilbeau.
Pallbearers will be Stephen W. Guilbeau Jr., Daniel Guilbeau, Dustin Guilbeau, Dr. Seth Guilbeau, Hunter Guilbeau, and Zayde Guilbeau.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Guilbeau, Mike Belcher, Thad Montgomery, Jonathan Poche, R.J. LeBlanc, Allen Guilbeau, and Tad Guilbeau.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to St Joseph Hospice, The Carpenter House, and her caregivers, Lisa Foster, Nick Breaux, Shelia Belaire, Jandi Viator, and Christine LeBlanc.
